This step-by-step guide helps you find, explore, preview, and visualize data from the MOEI Open Data Portal.

Search from the home page


Use the search field in the home page banner to quickly find datasets by keyword.

  1. Open the home page and place your cursor in the banner search field.
  2. Type a keyword such as water, roads, energy, or transport.

Type in the banner search field and click enter or the search icon.

The search page has auto-suggestions; if you click one, it takes you directly to the dataset page. If there are no suggestions and you click Enter, it takes you to the search page.

Submitting a keyword opens the dataset search results.

And you can directly access the search page by clicking on the Dataset in the navbar

Select a dataset result to continue from the search page.

Refine results on the search page

The search page lets you review, filter, and paginate through matching datasets.

  1. Use topic filters to narrow the results to a specific category.
  2. Use Clear all to remove active filters.
  3. Use pagination when there are more results than fit on one page.
  4. Select View dataset when you are ready to open the dataset details.

The dataset card contains metadata such as the resource, creation date, and action buttons like Feedback and View dataset.

Review the dataset page

The dataset page explains what the data contains and lists the available resources.

  1. Read the dataset title, description, update period, and publisher information.
  2. Preview resources where available, including tables and schemas.
  3. Download the full resource or selected data when download options are available.
  4. Use the similar datasets section to continue exploring related data.
The dataset page includes the full title, scope and description.

The first section of the dataset contains the Title and other metadata. It also has an action button to rate the data, copy the citation, share, or give feedback.

Resource previews can include pagination for larger tables.
The resources area lists files and can show table schema details.
Use the resource download options to download selected data when available.

The resources listed to the left enable you to switch the preview to a different resource by clicking on any of the resources you want. To download, click on the select button and this enables each resources to have a checkbox, then you can check the resource you want to download and once you are done, click Download selected to download the resource.

Explore resources and visualizations

Open an individual resource to inspect the data more closely or create a visualization.

  1. Open a resource page from the dataset resources section.
  2. Use preview, chart, and visualization tools to understand the data.
  3. Build your own visualization from the resource page when you need a custom view.

Visualization tools help turn resource data into a chart.
Choose fields and chart options when creating a visualization.
The resource page includes tools for building your own visualization.

Browse datasets by topic

Topics provide another way to browse datasets when you are exploring rather than searching for a specific term.

1. Use the topic section on the home page to open a category.

2. Open the topics page to see related datasets for that category.

3. You can also access topics from the header navigation.

Topic pages show related datasets for the selected category.
The header navigation also provides access to topics.
